Two issues found: "the Elissa Epel research line" is awkward phrasing (Day 3), and "The case study here is Billie" repeats the identical opener from Day 4. Everything else is clean.

Introduction: You Were Built to Sleep

Aric Prather opens his book in the middle of a sleepless night. He is a new father, his infant son asleep on his chest, and he cannot bring himself to put the baby down. Prather is a UCSF clinical psychologist who has spent his entire career studying sleep, who runs an insomnia clinic, who has built a research lab around the question of why humans rest the way they do. And he is wrecked. The scene matters because it sets the tone for everything that follows. Prather is not writing as a guru with the answers. He is writing as a scientist who understands sleep at the cellular level and still has to fight for it like everyone else.

His central thesis is unsettling in its simplicity. Sleep, he writes, "isn't something we do as much as it is something that happens to us." You cannot will yourself to sleep the way you will yourself through a workout. You can only build the conditions under which sleep arrives on its own. And those conditions, almost without exception, are set during the day. "The decisions you make that shape your sleep don't start when you lie down at night. They start the minute you open your eyes in the morning."

That reframes the whole problem. Most people who struggle with sleep imagine the fix lives somewhere inside the bedroom, in the right pillow or the right app or the right supplement. Prather wants you to look earlier. At your wake time. At your stress load. At your caffeine and your worry windows and the way you treat your bed as an office, a couch, and a screening room.
